Advanced Sitemaps 1.1.0

Posted on January 10, 2011 in Advanced Sitemaps by Sebastiaan de Jonge

After some time of silence it was time for an update on my advanced sitemaps extension. It took a while but all open bugs and feature request have been processed, and I'm proud to announce that version 1.1.0 of this extension is now available from the TER.

What's new?

First of all there were several bug fixes, which should make the extension a little better in what it does and is supposed to do.

Next to that I've added an output format for Google News Sitemaps. This is similar to the already existing Google Sitemaps, but optimized for news and blog articles.

Something else that is "new" is that now you can specify Google Sitemap's priority and update frequency per record as well (the affected tables can be specified inside the extension manager).

The third feature I've added is the option to add a more precise record selection inside the record configurations. This option enables admins (only!) to add an extra piece of SQL that will be used for the record selection. This allows for example the selection of news articles for just a certain category.

Roadmap

If you've taken a look on TYPO3 Forge, you might have noticed the roadmap for version 1.2.0. This will include a code cleanup and 3 additional output formats: RSS 2.0, RSS 0.91 and ATOM. However, there is still space left on this list. So if you have any ideas or requests, please let me know via e-mail or on the Forge issue tracker.

All new features have to be in before February 1st. At that moment I will close the roadmap for 1.2.0. So if you have any requests, don't hesitate to put them in.

Special thanks

Go out to the people who have helped me (report and solve bugs) and of course to the TYPO3 community. Just for being awesome!

PS: If you find this extension useful, please rate it!

Update 2010-01-11 11:00

There was a small error inside the ext_tables.sql that slipt through the testing. This has been corrected, and 1.1.1 has been released. Thanks to Fernando Arconada for reporting this issue!

    A question

Great Extension, but one question: Why is my / Tag always empty? Is this a bug?

    Thank you,
    George

    RE: A question

The question was why the location seems to be empty. The problem was solved, it was a configuration issue (no single view display page was set).

Got something to say?
